Khalistan movement is a socio-political movement determined to create an independent Sikh homeland, Khalistān (Khalistan in Panjabi) or Khalsa, in the Punjab region of South Asia. The genocide of Sikhs in 1984, the Demolition of Harimandir Sahib, Operation Blue Star, and the Trilochanpuri riots are some of the events that triggered the Sikh movement against injustice.
